Who is Dr. Erik?

I'm a native English speaker from the US who fell in love with the Netherlands over 20 years ago — I came for my Master's and PhD, and never left. After completing my doctorate, I went on to teach at several Dutch universities, spending 18 years in academia before turning my focus to one-on-one English coaching.

That background gives me something most tutors can't offer: I've lived the experience many of my students are navigating — building a career and academic life in a second language, in a foreign country, far from home. I know what's at stake when you're presenting your research, writing for publication, or trying to hold your own in a room full of native speakers.

I work with international professionals and academics across Europe and beyond, helping them with the exact situations that matter most: presentations, papers, interviews, and professional communication.
